NEW BEDFORD - Four city residents are arrested as New Bedford Narcotics Unit Detectives conducted surveillance in the North End.

New Bedford Police arrested and charged Lindsey Roderick, 29, after she was observed offering to engage in sex for a fee in the 100 block of Tallman Street.

Detectives also observed a man fleeing the Rite Aid Pharmacy on Acushnet Avenue, while at the same time receiving a report of a shoplifter leaving the store. Police arrested the man, Jose Furtado, 31, after finding him in possession of several packages of Gillette razor refills. He had similar offenses in 2015 and 2016.

Joseph Sylvia, 57, was arrested on an outstanding warrant. Police also arrested Rachel Hines, 26, who was with Sylvia when they were stopped by police in the 300 block of North Front Street. Hines was in possession of suboxone and trazodone. Detectives say they observed a suspected drug transaction between the two.
