New Bedford Police Investigating Shots Fired in West End
NEW BEDFORD — New Bedford Police are investigating an apparent shots fired incident in the same West End neighborhood that has been plagued by at least six other such incidents so far this year.
According to police, they received a report of a Shotspotter activation in the 100-block of Campbell Street at 2:29 a.m. this morning.
Police say there was an indication that shots were fired. No property damage or injuries were reported.
A week ago, shots were fired in the 80 block of Parker Street. No injuries were reported in that incident, but property damage was found. Scanner reports indicate bullets damaged windows, as well as the interior of a home in that area.
The residence at 66 Robeson Street was damaged by a bullet back on March 11.
On February 1, there was a report of shots fired in the area of 250 Summer Street, near Pope Street. Shortly after the shooting, witnesses reported the house at 250 Summer Street was tagged with graffiti reading “WOMAN BEATER” and “GANG GANG.”
Then on February 20, a woman was shot “near the torso area,” according to New Bedford Police, in the area of 130 Chestnut Street. The victim was transported to an area hospital and later released.
