New Bedford Police Investigating Apparent Shooting in North End Neighborhood

NEW BEDFORD - New Bedford Police are investigating property damage to a north end home after residents reported a loud bang early Sunday morning.

According to police logs, officers responded to an apartment at 165 Bates Street at 1:18 a.m. Sunday for a "firearm within 500 feet of dwelling" and "malicious destruction of property over $250."

Witnesses told police they heard a bang and found what appeared to be a bullet hole on a wall above a bathroom window.

Police have not yet determined what caliber or type of weapon may have caused the damage.

Police did not find any further damage and nobody was injured.
