New Bedford Police are investigating  gunshots on Clark Street early Saturday morning and a armed robbery of a variety store in the West End Saturday night. Residents of the 100 block on Clark Street told police they heard gunshots in their neighborhood around 3 am Saturday morning where police found 5 spent shell casings. There were no reports of any injury and a witness tells police they saw a small red or maroon vehicle speeding from the scene.

Then shortly after 8 Saturday night, a lone male armed with a silver and black gun,  robbed the United Grocery Store at 518 Union Street and escaped with an undetermined amount of cash. He is described as a 6 foot tall, white male of medium build.

No injuries were reported. Anyone with information on either incident should call New Bedford Police detectives at 508-991-6300. ext 148.
