NEW BEDFORD — New Bedford Police arrested two women for driving under the influence of alcohol in separate instances Wednesday night.

At about 10:06 p.m., police responded to a vehicle that had struck a pole in front of New Bedford High School.

Investigation revealed that the driver, 32-year-old Mara Conti of 450 Rock Street, Apartment 17 in Fall River, was under the influence of liquor. Conti told police she had taken medication and other substances earlier in the day, which may have impaired her.

She was charged with OUI liquor, OUI drugs and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

About an hour later, police responded to a disabled vehicle on Route 18 South just before Route 6 East at about 11:08 p.m.

When police arrived, investigation determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Police arrested 34-year-old Lisa Jenne of 126 Forbes Street in Rochester on charges of OUI liquor.
