New Bedford Police Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect
New Bedford Police arrested a suspect in an attempted armed robbery Wednesday night. The incident occurred around 10:30 in the vicinity of Sydney Street in the South End.
19 year old Bryan Calderon of Sydney Street, met a friend and put a knife to his throat and demanded he empty his pockets and stole his I phone. During a brief struggle, the unidentified victim was cut with the knife and was treated and released from St. Luke's hospital.
Police tracked down the suspect to his mother's apartment on Sydney Street where he was arrested without incident. Police recovered the knife used in the robbery as well as the I phone that was taken. Calderon is being arraigned in District Court on armed robbery and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapons charges.
