New Bedford Police Arrest 15 in Prostitution Sting

NEW BEDFORD — The New Bedford Police Department narcotics unit arrested 15 people on charges of sexual conduct for a fee Thursday, as part of an effort to address concerns about prostitution in the city's North End. They are all scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Third District Court.

Those arrested were:

--Teofilo Dasilva, 35, 24 Nye St. Apt. 2, New Bedford

--Robert J. Souza, 59, 108 Hamlet St. Apt. 1, Fall River

--Carol Rioux, 58, 108 Hamlet St. Apt. 1, Fall River

--Denis Ramos, 28, 66 Whitman St. Apt. 2, New Bedford

--Nataly Quintana, 32, homeless

--Jason Moniz, 34, 245 Shaw St. Apt. 1, New Bedford

--James Ferreira, 51, 227 State St., New Bedford

--Bogar Nixon Mendoza, 39, 200 Mattapoisett Road, Rochester

--Francisco Rodrigues, 54, 120 Tallman St. Apt. 3, New Bedford

--Desiree Defreitas, 46, 113H Hathaway St., New Bedford

--Crystal Rodriguez, 32, 1282 Pleasant St., Apt. 1, New Bedford

--Aaron Viera, 45, 58 Poplar Rd., New Bedford

--John C. Letendre, 55, 321 Ridge St., Apt. 1, Fall River

--Tammy Defreitas, 39, 171 Ashley Blvd. Apt. 3W, New Bedford.

Police also arrested Emmanuel Marquez, 30, 239 Acushnet Ave. Apt. 2, New Bedford, on charges of possession of class B substance (Suboxone strips) and on a warrant charge.
