A New Bedford non-profit organization says it wants to open a medical marijuana dispensary or treatment center in the area. 

Officials with the Center for Alternative Life Medicine were guests on WBSM Tuesday afternoon.

T-J Thomas has been working since November on plans to open a treatment center in New Bedford.

Under state regulations announced last month, doctors would write letters, giving permission for the sale of marijuana for medical purposes to their patients.  Thomas says there's been a mixed reaction from physicians so far...

The Center for Alternative Life Medicine is offering free educational seminars this Saturday on state regulations for medical marijuana.

The seminars will be held at 10am and 230pm at the Day's Inn on Hathaway Road.
