New Bedford's name will remain on the Marine Commerce Terminal project.

State Senator Mark Montigny tells WBSM News that the state's Clean Energy Center has reversed course and decided to leave the name intact.

Montigny believes that the outcry from New Bedford's civic and business leaders ultimately convinced state officials to leave New Bedford's name on the project.

State officials had proposed naming the terminal the Massachusetts Marine Commerce Terminal or the Southcoast Marine Commerce Terminal.

The terminal will be used as a staging area for Cape Wind.
