New Bedford Mother Reacts to Son’s Death in Homicide

The mother of the New Bedford homicide victim says her son was a family guy and doesn't know why anyone would want to hurt her son.

According to the mother, there was loud banging at Scott Sousa's apartment early Friday morning.

It was unclear if Scott was shot through the door or as soon as he opened it.

Family members of the victim estimated it took the ambulance 20-30 minutes to arrive on the scene.

Scott Sousa was killed early Friday morning after being shot at his home on Austin street. An investigation into the homicide is ongoing.
