New Bedford’s Mayor Mitchell Endorses Ed Markey

New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell threw his support behind Edward Markey in the U S Senate race. Speaking at Markey campaign headquarters on Pleasant Street Sunday afternoon, Mitchell said that he is supporting Markey because he believes he's the best candidate for New Bedford. The Mayor praised Markey's commitment to creating opportunities for the Southcoast and standing up for working families. Markey didn't attend the rally citing scheduling conflicts but about 20 Markey supporters did attend.

Markey and Gomez will debate Tuesday night in Boston while Gomez will appear alone Wednesday night at U Mass Dartmouth in what was supposed to be a debate between the 2 candidates but Markey has failed to respond to the invitation.
