New Bedford Mayor Calls Cops After Being Threatened
Mayor Jon Mitchell did this week what he hopes all residents of the city will do when they encounter a problem in their neighborhood --- call the police.
Speaking on his weekly radio program on WBSM, the Mayor said he was driving home on Ash Street Tuesday night when he encountered a group of young people in the middle of the street.
The crowd eventually started moving, and the Mayor followed them for a time in his car.
Mitchell says the threats and unruly behavior continued so he called the police. One of the young people was locked up.
The Mayor, a former federal prosecutor, says when something happens that undermines a neighborhood, residents should call the cops.
