NEW BEDFORD - A New Bedford man is charged after police conduct a sweep of the North End.

Members of the New Bedford Police Department's Narcotics Division were targeting street level narcotics sales in the city's North End Tuesday afternoon when they observed a man toss a bag of suspected drugs onto the ground. Detectives determined the bag contained suspected crack cocaine.

Police arrested the man, Jed Tenczar, 46, of 224 Ashley Boulevard, Apt. 1, New Bedford, and charged him with possession of a Class B drug (cocaine).

Tenczar was arrested at 1:05 p.m. on Tuesday.
