A New Bedford man is arrested after being revived from an overdose.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says Thursday morning around 1am, police and medics responded to 40 Thompson Street in the South End, finding a shoeless and shirtless man on the ground, suffering from an overdose.

After four doses of Narcan, the man identified as 40-year-old Jacob Gorham of 40 Thompson St., was revived and taken into the back of an ambulance. Once inside, Gorham became combative, and started attacking the paramedics. He was tased by police and handcuffed to the gurney.

In St. Luke's Hospital, police say he continued to act out, and was arrested after being medically cleared.

Gorham has been arraigned on two counts of assault and battery on medic personnel and one count of assault and battery on a person over 60.
