The details are still vague, but New Bedford Police say a Dartmouth man faces assault and battery charges after an incident at LeBeau's Tavern in the North End late Sunday night.

Police responded to the Tarkiln Hill bar around 10pm Sunday night to reports of a stabbing.

Two victims, both 33-year-old males, had already been transported to Saint Luke's Hospital at the time.

One of the men, a New Bedford resident, suffered two stab wounds to his shoulder and back. He was transferred to Beth Israel Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The second man, identified as Seth Debortoli of South Dartmouth, suffered a superficial cut to his back.

Police are not saying what triggered the struggle between the two men, but during the altercation, Debortoli supposedly struck a 22-year-old female bartender with a pool cue.

Debortoli was arrested following his release from the hospital. He's charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, and is being arraigned today in New Bedford District Court.
