A New Bedford man is found guilty of second degree murder, and was sentenced to life in prison.

Twenty-two year-old Erick Cournoyer must serve at least 15 years behind bars before he's eligible for parole.

Cournoyer was convicted Thursday of the 2009 shooting death of 18-year-old Bianca Rosado. He was also convicted of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for the shooting of Rosado's boyfriend, 17-year-old Victor Camacho.

The jury deliberated for seven hours over two days before returning the guilty verdicts.

Judge Renee Dupuis handed down the sentence at Fall River Superior Court.

Bristol County District Attorney Sam Sutter said he was grateful to the jury and prosecution team that they were able to deliver some measure of justice to the victim's families.
