A New Bedford man has been sentenced to state prison after being convicted of trafficking in heroin and cocaine.

Forty-six year old Omar Colon entered a guilty plea on Wednesday in Fall River Superior Court.

Judge Rene Dupuis sentenced Colon to 7 to 11 years in prison. She also determined that $10,000 was proceeds from illegal drug transactions, and that money would be forfeited.

Prosecutors say Colon carried out a heroin delivery service in New Bedford between September 2013, and January 2014.
