A New Bedford man is headed to state prison for the next 3 1/2 to six years after admitting he ran a heroin delivery service out of his Roosevelt Street apartment.

Thirty one year old Patrick Parent appeared Wednesday in Fall River Superior Court and was sentenced by Judge Gregg Pasquale.

The District Attorney's office says Parent was arrested in August, 2014. Inside Parent's apartment police seized several bags of heroin, more than 500 methadone tablets, 160 oxycodone tablets, digital scales, and more than $4,000 in cash.

D-A Thomas Quinn says "Parent is another example of drug dealers who are fueling the opioid epidemic, and profiting financially from the pain they are inflicting."
