Hailton DaCosta - New Bedford Police Photo

A city man has been indicted for murder in the shooting of another man last November. 

Police responded to Winsor and Crapo Streets on November 23rd on a report of gunshots and found 31 year old Sharone Stafford lying in the road.  He was transported to St. Lukes Hospital and died a short time later. 

The District Attorney's office announced Friday, 25 year old Hailton DaCosta of New Bedford was indicted for Stafford's murder.  He's also charged with armed assault with intent to rob and illegal possession of a handgun. 

DaCosta will be arraigned in Superior Court on March 10th. 

Two other men have been charged in connection with the case.  Both 21 year old Elito Mendes and 27 year old Samir Baptista face accessory charges.
