New Bedford Man Facing Firearms Charges
A New Bedford man is facing firearms charges following his arrest Wednesday morning.
Detective Captain Steven Vicente says that at around 10:30 a.m. a report was received of a man unlawfully possesing a firearm near Crapo St. and Nelson St.
Officers located the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Carlos Carabal Bonilla, and stopped him without incident.
Vicente says officers patted him down and found a Ruger 9 millimeter handgun, along with a loaded magazine in his back pocket with five rounds of ammunition.
Bonilla was charged with Unlawfully carrying a firearm and Unlawful possession of ammunition.
He was arraigned Wednesday afternoon in New Bedford District Court.
