A New Bedford man was hospitalized after being attacked with a 2x4.

New Bedford police say the man was found near the front door of a Bullard St. home around 12:12 a.m. Friday.

The 38-year-old man said seven people on Beetle St. attacked him with one of them striking him with a 2x4.

He said an unidentified woman picked him up on Sawyer St. and dropped him off at the Bullard St. location.

The man also said his wallet, which contained no cash, and his cell phone were stolen.

Police say medical personnel discovered two injuries at the top of his head and he was taken to St. Luke's Hospital.
