New Bedford Man Arrested on Cocaine Charges

NEW BEDFORD — New Bedford Police arrest a city man on cocaine charges.

In response to complaints from residents about incidents in the area of Blackmer Street and Acushnet Avenue, the New Bedford Police gang unit added patrols to the neighborhood.

While on patrol, members of the unit observed a man engaged in a narcotics transaction at the corner of Blackmer Street and Acushnet Avenue just after 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

Police arrested 20-year-old Jesus Escobar-Ayala of 106 County Street, Apartment 2, for possession of crack cocaine.
