Fairhaven Police arrest a New Bedford man after he was seen driving with a suspended license.

Sgt. Kevin Kobza says 27-year-old Zachary Lovegrove of New Bedford was arrested Friday afternoon in Fairhaven for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and for two outstanding warrants.

After Lovegrove was arrested, police searched his car and found 19 grams of heroin, 32 Suboxone strips, and 164 Xanax pills that were individually packaged for distribution.

Lovegrove faces charges of trafficking over 18 grams of heroin, possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance, possession with intent to distribute a Class C substance, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. The charges on the outstanding warrants included distribution of heroin, possession with intent to distribute heroin, conspiracy to violate drug laws, and unlawful possession of a firearm. Lovegrove was on pretrial probation for those charges.

Lovegrove was held on $75,000 bail over the weekend and was arraigned on the new charges in New Bedford District Court Monday morning.
