A New Bedford man is facing drug charges after two search warrants were executed Wednesday night.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says that at approximately 8 p.m.members of the Organized Crime and Intelligence Bureau executed the warrants at 1934 Acushnet Ave. apartments 1 and 2.

The search warrants were executed following an investigation into a drug distribution service.

During the search, which also included an adjacent garage, officers uncovered 65 grams of heroin, 301 Oxycodone tablets, 60 methadone pills, a small bag of cocaine, packaging materials and $27,758 in cash.

The raid took place within 100 feet of Brooklawn Park and the drugs have a street value of approximately $10,000.

Vicente says the suspect, identified as 45-year-old James Oliver, was scheduled to be arraigned this morning in New Bedford District Court on drug trafficking charges, as well as, possession with intent to distribute within 100 feet of a playground.
