A New Bedford man is arrested in Fall River in connection with a bank robbery.

Fall River Police say while officers were responding to a robbery at Bank 5 on Thirteenth Street, a person matching the suspect's description was seen by officers several blocks away from the robbery.

A patrol officer stopped to frisk the man and found a white bank envelope with cash on his person. The suspect tried to flee but was quickly apprehended.

The man, identified as 25-year-old Maxwell Bethony, Jr. of New Bedford, was identified by witnesses as the robber, and was placed under arrest.

Officers also linked Bethony to the robbery of a Fall River convenience store on January 31.

Bethony is charged with unarmed robbery, resisting arrest, and armed and masked robbery.
