New Bedford Man Arrested Fifth Time On OUI Charges

A New Bedford man faces court charges following his arrest early Sunday on charges of operating under the influence and other violations. 

Det. Capt Steve Vicente says the o-u-i charge is the fifth such offense for 46 year old Joseph Counsell of New Bedford.

Police responded to Arnold and James Streets around 2am, and found ten motor vehicles had been damaged by a car allegedly driven by Counsell.

Police say Counsell was arrested at his home on Evelyn Street was unsteady on his feet and smelled of alcohol.  A witness later identified Counsell as the driver.
