New Bedford Man Arrested After Tuesday Night Drug Raid

A New Bedford man was arrested and drugs were seized after a search warrant was executed Tuesday night.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says members of the Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau, with the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police, executed a search warrant at 203 Weld St. apt. 1.

During the search officers seized 85 grams of cocaine, 40 grams of heroin, and over $3,034 in cash.

Officers also found cut corner bags, packaging materials and digital scales that are indicative of drug dealing activity.

The target of the investigation, identified as 30-year-old Miguel Ortega, was arrested while driving back to his home.

Ortega was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday morning in New Bedford District Court.
