New Bedford Man Arraigned On Weapons Charges

A New Bedford man is facing firearms charges following his arrest Sunday afternoon.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says that, at around 3 p.m,. members of the Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau executed a search warrant at 203 Division St. Apt. 3.

The target of the investigation, identified as 21-year-old Bruno Ferreira, was found in the basement area.

Vicente says Ferreira fled into a room where he discarded a .40 caliber Glock loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition.

Ferreira doesn't have a license to carry firearms.

He was arrested without incident and was scheduled to be arraigned Monday morning in New Bedford District Court on charges of Unlawful possession of a firearm; Unlawful possession of ammunition; and Possession of a large capacity firearm/feeding device.
