A man is facing charges after police say he stole a grill from the basement of a New Bedford home Saturday afternoon.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says that at around 1:30 p.m. an officer was sent to the 400 block of County St. over a report of a suspicious male in the area.

The man was spotted by a neighbor leaving a yard with a box containing a propane grill.

The homeowner was contacted by the neighbor and it was then learned that a glass pane to a door had been broken at the rear of the house and that the grill had been stolen from the basement.

The suspect was followed by the homeowner and he was taken into custody in the area of Bedford St and County St.

An officer located the grill in a nearby yard and the neighbor positively identified the suspect, identifed as 54-year-old David Vicent of New Bedford.

Vicent was scheduled to be arraigned Monday morning in New Bedford District Court on charges of Breaking and Entering in the daytime and larceny in a building.
