New Bedford Landlord Ordinance Targets Irresponsible Landlords

New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell submitted an ordinance to the city council amending a law to hold accountable the small number of irresponsible landlords who flagrantly neglect their responsibilities to their tenants, neighborhoods and the city.

Many landlords packed the council chambers while many city councilors spoke out against amending the law. The council decided to send the amendment to the Committee on Ordiances and invited landlords to attend the meeting.
