New Bedford may look like Amity Island for a few days, as shark fishermen will be engaged in the first of it's kind tournament for the city.

The North Atlantic Shark Tournament gets underway Friday morning, with fishermen looking to land the largest sharks over two days. Organizer Frank Papp says there are cash prizes for the biggest fish.

If any fishermen break a state record, Toyota of Dartmouth is donating a 2014 Toyota Tundra to the new record holder.

Only three types of sharks, mako, thresher, and porbeagle will be accepted into the tournament.

All proceeds from the tournament will benefit fishermen's Right To Fish and preserving the commercial fishing industry.

The public is invited to view the sharks as they are weighed over the weekend, with viewing opportunities at City Pier Three on Friday from 4-8pm, and on Saturday from 3-6pm.
