It was a banner year for the Veterans Day Parade in New Bedford.

Thousands of people lined Union and Pleasant Streets to simply say 'thank you' to the men and women from around the area that have served in our nations Armed Forces.

Mother and daughter Sandra and Jennifer Lopes reflected on why the day is so important.

Scores of veterans participated in the annual parade to the sounds of local middle and high school marching bands.

WWII Army combat medic Normand Chartier served as the Grand Marshal, with Marine Corps veteran Ellie Reed delivering a keynote address honoring our local veterans.
