New Bedford Holocaust Monument Vandalized

New Bedford Police are investigating an incident of vandalism at the Holocaust Memorial at Buttonwood Park in New Bedford. WBSM recieved an email Friday morning from a listener who said he saw the tablets on the memorial spray painted with the word “Sudan” in big black letters on both sides of the tablet. By mid morning most of the words had been removed. Rabbi Raphael Kanter is speaking out about the defilement of the monument.

There is speculation the vandalism could be in response to a mission by the Israeli Air Force 2 nights ago that obliterated a missile factory in the Sudan which was reportedly manufacturing guided missiles for Iran. Rabbi Kanter says if the vandalism was a means of bringing attention to attacks in the middle east, it was the wrong way to go about it.
