The New Bedford Police Department has added two new officers to the local force.

David Rose, Jr. and Nathan Pimentel, both of New Bedford, were sworn in Monday by Mayor Jon Mitchell.

Rose is a 2011 graduate of New Bedford High School and studied criminal justice at Bridgewater State University. He has also been a member of the Army National Guard since 2012. In his application, Rose said he strives to feel connected and serve his community and feels that being a police officer will be the best way to accomplish his goal.

Pimentel is a 2003 graduate of Greater New Bedford Vocational Technical High School, and served as a combat medic in the Marines from 2003 to 2008. He was deployed as part of the Ground Combat Element to Iraq during Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom where he received several medals. In 2014, Pimentel became a corrections officer for the Barnstable County Sheriff's Office.
