The New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center will open its new location at 38 Bethel Street with a public celebration on June 25.

According to South Coast Today.com, “the 3,000-square-foot Heritage Center will be located in the old AirGas building, in the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park. The Heritage Center will host exhibits, public programs, school groups, industry archives and more.”

The June 25 grand opening will involve demonstrations of industry skills, hands-on activities for children, fresh local seafood for sale and more. The exhibits at the center will be open for free.

It took the Heritage Center about a year to search for their new home before announcing the Bethel Street location in March.
