After years of planning and dreaming, the New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center has a place to call home.

The Center has announced that it is leasing the ground floor of the two-story brick building at 38 Bethel Street downtown.

Executive Director Laura Orleans tells WBSM News the Center will be up and running within a few months. "It's a fairly accelerated timeline. We actually move in April 1st. And we're negotiating with exhibit designers right now, as we speak. And we are going to open up in June to the public," says Orleans.

Orleans says one of the first exhibits will feature former WBSM reporter Bill Brennan, who for decades delivered the "fish news" on the air.

The Fishing Heritage Center has leased the 3,000 square foot space for three years.
