A stubborn house fire Saturday afternoon kept New Bedford firefighters busy for several hours.

Firefighters responded to a report of a fire at 33 DeWolf Street around 12:45 p.m.

A dispatcher says the fire was contained just before 2 p.m.

District Chief Michael Dandurand says the fire started on a second-floor porch and spread to a portion of the attic in the two-story structure. A damage estimate was not available.

There were no injuries reported, but seven people were displaced by the blaze.

The Red Cross is assisting.

The cause remains under investigation.
