New Bedford firefighters made quick work of a fire this afternoon in a multi-family home at 118-120 Clark Street.

District Chief Michael Brodeur tells WBSM News fire apparatus was called to the scene around 1:30pm, and firefighters saw flames coming from a third floor apartment.

Six people were displaced by the fire and are getting assistance from the Red Cross.

Chief Brodeur says the fire was still under investigation, and determining the cause might take awhile.

As far as injuries, Brodeur says a police officer was sent to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation and two firefighters suffered minor cuts.
