The New Bedford Fire Department along with its Fairhaven and Mattapoisett partners is recieving more than 300 hundred thousand dollars in federal grant money to buy a state of the art regional training structure.

Congressman William Keating made the announcement and said the building will be shared by firefighters in the three communities. New Bedford Fire Chief Michael Gomes says the city has not had a training structure since the Old Glory Tower and Fire Station 10 were sold off in the mid 70's.

He added the new building can be used multiple times and he is currently looking for a semi permanent site for the structure although one has not yet been determined.
