NEW BEDFORD - The Bristol County District Attorney's Office has released the identity of the second victim in Tuesday morning's deadly double shooting.

The DA's Office says Fabio Tavares, 28, of New Bedford, died late Tuesday morning from injuries received during a shooting earlier that morning.

Authorities say Tavares was a passenger in a 2001 Honda Accord driven by Stephen Bodden, 27, when they were shot while driving on Central Avenue in New Bedford's North End at around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. Bodden, who was declared dead at the scene, had last known addresses in Taunton and New Bedford. Tavares was found breathing, but in critical condition, and was transported to St. Luke's Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

New Bedford Police and State Police assigned to the District Attorney's Office are still investigating the murders. No arrests have been announced.

Bodden and Tavares' deaths mark the 7th and 8th homicides of 2017, and come on the heels of the murder of a New Bedford man last week. There were three murders in New Bedford in 2016.
