New Bedford Couple Arrested for Fentanyl Trafficking
NEW BEDFORD — A New Bedford couple is arrested on drug charges after being the targets of a search warrant.
New Bedford Police executed a search warrant at 83 Washington Street, Apartment 1 at 6:26 p.m. Tuesday night. There, they recovered more than 10 grams of fentanyl, as well as $289 in cash.
Police arrested the occupants of the apartment, 50-year-old James Ray Jones and 48-year-old Yvonne Marie Mendes.
Jones is charged with trafficking in fentanyl, more than 10 grams; conspiracy to violate drug laws; possession of a class E drug; possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance (fentanyl), subsequent offense. He had a similar charge back in May of 1986.
Mendes is charged with conspiracy to violate drug laws, and possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance (fentanyl).
