We're just a few days away from a Region C application deadline set by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, and no word yet on a deal between New Bedford and KG Urban Enterprises.

Wednesday afternoon, Mayor Jon Mitchell again outlined his points of contention over the developer's proposed waterfront casino on Cannon Street.

Ward Five City Councilor Kerry Winterson says he understands the mayor's concerns, but feels the city needs to stop dragging it's feet.

Winterson says he's spoken with the developers, who have expressed interest in bringing more business to the downtown district, rather than taking business away. He says KG Urban has previously promoted the fact they would purchase 500 tickets a month to Zeiterion Theater shows, and hand them out to casino visitors.

The deadline to submit an application for a casino license is March 16.
