New Bedford Police arrest a New Bedford man and a Hyannis woman in connection with an armed robbery early this morning at the 7-11 at 489 Rockdale Ave..

According to New Bedford Detective Capt. Steve Vicente, a man entered the store wearing a hooded sweatshirt, portions of it covering his face. He demanded money from the 18 year old male clerk, and appeared to be holding a firearm in the pocket of the shirt but he never displayed it.

He left the store in a car but police followed the vehicle and when it hit a dead end on Cornell Street. Police chased the 2 suspects on foot through several yards and both were finally captured behind a shed in the rear yard of a home on Westview Street. The money and some clothing was recovered.

Arrested was 31 year old Aaron Brito of Reed Street and his companion 22 year old Marranda Marin of Hyannis, who stayed in the vehicle during the robbery. They both faced a number of charges in District court Thursday morning .
