Here comes the weekend, and once again there's plenty to do on the Southcoast. One event you don't want to miss is Downtown New Bedford Inc's. seventh annual Chowder Festival on Sunday. The festival once again will be at Custom House Square in New Bedford's Historic District starting at noon. This is your chance to get out and sample some of the best Clam Chowder, Kale Soup, Seafood Chowder and Stuffed Quahogs. The planners of the event chose this weekend because the Patriot's have a late afternoon game and it's Columbus Day on Monday. If you have never been this is the year for you to go! Live music performed by Eagles cover band Another Tequila Sunrise, there will be free Antique Firetruck rides around the Historic District, plus lot's of activities for the kids. The Chowder Festival is a chance for you to sample food from area restaurants that you may have never visited. Expect a family fun day no matter the weather because there is a huge tent covering the whole event, theres plenty of free parking for the Chowder Festival too. Word of advice, pace yourself when sampling the chowder, the last thing you want to do is fill up on chowder at the first booth and not be able to sample from other booths. If you like a particular chowder or soup, travel to other booths and sample then head back to the one you like and have more. The event is only $15 for adults in advance and children between 6-12 are just $5, advanced tickets can be purchased at www.downtownnb.org. See you Sunday!
