New Bedford's homecoming for the oldest wooden whaling ship has sadly come to an end.

The Charles W. Morgan has departed from New Bedford State Pier this Tuesday morning after a delay caused by this weekend's hurricane. The 173-year-old vessel spent nearly two weeks in the city and drew close to 50,000 visitors.

Mike and Wanda Porter traveled from Chicago,IL to see their son, who's a deckhand on the ship. Wanda says she's happy to watch him doing what he loves...

The Morgan will now travel to Massachusetts Maritime Academy and spend a day there before heading up the Cape Cod Canal to Provincetown.

Following that it will sail to Boston Harbor as part of it's 38th Voyage.
