Police Investigate Attempted Cab Robbery

A 53 year old New Bedford cab driver was assaulted and threatened to be shot by a man who called for a cab on Myrtle Street early Tuesday morning. The suspect was dressed in black and grabbed the driver by the neck and demanded money through an open cab door and punched the driver several times before the driver sped off leaving his assailant behind. The unidentified driver was treated by medics but declined to go to the hospital.
