In my ongoing 'What's New' blog series, New Bedford's Brooklawn Park Senior Center will be closing in late June to become the first adult social day care center run by the New Bedford Council on Aging, according to it's director, Debra Lee and Pamela Amaral - Lima, Development Coordinator. The new adult social day care will be a non-medical facility. There will be a nominal charge for services and transportation. The new facility will provide individualized programs of recreational and social activities, and support for elders who require day time supervision and assistance with daily care needs. This service includes assistance with mobility, grooming, and mealtime activities.

The seniors who've used the Brooklawn center will be transported free to other senior centers and groups using the property for meetings and such will also be accommodated.

The new adult social day care center should be opening in July. For details and inquiries, please call 508-991-6250.
