The first man to step on the moon has passed away. Neil Armstrong died early Saturday morning after some cardiovascular complications.

Armstrong became famous for his line of 'one giant leap for mankind'. He paved the way for NASA, and without his contribution, we wouldn't have a rover on Mars.

In his time, Neil Armstrong did what few people only dreamed of doing. He went into space, and walked on the moon - and for nearly three hours. His legacy in American history is cemented forever, much like his footsteps on the moon.

His family said that he passed away after complications with a cardiovascular procedure. He was 82 years old.
