Armstrong became famous for his line of 'one giant leap for mankind'. He paved the way for NASA, and without his contribution, we wouldn't have a rover on Mars.

In his time, Neil Armstrong did what few people only dreamed of doing. He went into space, and walked on the moon - and for nearly three hours. His legacy in American history is cemented forever, much like his footsteps on the moon.

His family said that he passed away after complications with a cardiovascular procedure. He was 82 years old.
