National Dessert Day

This is the day I got to talk about dessert for 4 hours and indulge my sweet tooth. National Dessert Day is now and shall forever be a glorious occasion.

We asked listeners what their favorite desserts are and the list ran from chocolatey to fruity. Dan the Newsman likes a good old fashioned Boston Cream Pie, and Pete likes chocolate mousse. We heard responses like Portuguese flan, strawberry chiffon pie, pecan pie, ice cream cake, pineapple upside down cake, Portuguese rice pudding, fried ice cream, brownie sundae, and creme brûlée. Of course there were some seasonal favorites too. Pumpkin cheesecake and homemade apple crisp with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Some people were very specific about where they get their treats. Apparently Acushnet creamery has the best coffee chip ice cream, and you can find a mean chocolate raspberry torte at Market Basket. Even a simple Hostess cupcake can serve as a fix for our receptionist, Alissa!
