The Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne is hosting two events this weekend in advance of Veterans Day.

The Cape Cod Times reports that Operation Flags for Vets will be placing flags on tens of thousands of graves at the cemetery Saturday. The event was established in 2012 in memory of a Medal of Honor recipient, Sgt. 1st Class Jared Monti of Raynham. Monti was killed in Afghanistan in 2006.

The annual Veterans Day ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday near the flagpole, rain or shine.

The guest speaker is Col. Virginia Doonan, commander of the 102nd Intelligence Wing at Otis Air National Guard Base.  (Associated Press)
